Eheim Classic EZ Prime!!! Free!

Hi all,

I wish to share how I prime my Eheim Classics,

I use my mouth to suck, but I won't have to worry about drinking tank water, the trick is to suck the outlet hole, or the outlet tube, instead of the inlet tube.

Most people suck the inlet and when water starts siphoning they quickly connect to the canister, this method aways drink tankwater, because once the siphon starts, water gushes down very fast, straight into your mouth.

But if you leave the inlet connected to the canister and disconnect the outlet and suck on the canister outlet instead, water will siphon down and slowly fills up the canister, water have to fill up the canister first before going straight into your mouth. You have enough time to react, once it siphons you can reconnect the outlet to the canister outlet hole. The only requirement is strong lungs.

I find Classic series easier to prime than Pro 2 series in fact, because sometimes I can press a few hundred times on the autoprime push button till I sweat like hell but the thing just wont prime, this usually happen after filter maintainence because the outlet tube contains water thats why its hard to prime, but remove and clearing away outlet tube water is troublesome.

Wow Nice experience and good to share with others too. Last time when i used to do so-called sucking water priming method, i normally do at the outlet. Along the way when i got myself a powerhead, i somehow think it is more hygiene to use it than my mouth cause it may contain a lot of bacteria. haha :D

Yah, using mouth still not very hygenic, heheh, but better than drinking tank water, first time I prime I drink, hahahah.

I just use those hand pump ( those $2 kind from hw shops ) to siphon the outlet , once output tube got water , turn on the filter...wala...it goes :)

Why you all like to drink tank water so much ?? haha :D:D

Your water sounds hard and high ph muahahahhaha. If your water taste sour maybe its too soft and ph low liao.

Haha not too sure.. maybe dead fish! Maybe u all dun have to buy ph test kit as tere is one on your tongue haha! :D

i use a vacuum cleaner and suck the water , just hate the idea of sucking on the tube even if its new...
can you imagine if you get a second hand one ? :D

Got bad bacteria, but also got good bacteria, right?:D

This is what I was do when I was using my Atman filter.

1) Fill the canister up wif water
2) Put the inlet into the tank.
3) open the bother filter tap
4) pour water into the hose of the outlet until the water fills both the in and out hose.
5) place the outlet back into the tank and power on the filter.

It has never fail me before when I use this matter, don need to suck water using ur mouth.

Hi,
everyone this is my first post here. This morning just tried to prime my Atman canister, very frustrating man. Tried alot of ways - prime from the outlet but the stupid out-tube very hard to pull lose from the out-hose. Frustrated until one big one small. At last the canister only start to operate when I tilt it left and right. Anyone use the Eheim Easy prime attachment???

Not too sure if the Eheim easy prime attachment can be used on the Atman ( though i suspect is can , as long as the tube diameter is the same )

Perhaps you can wait for fishgeek to come in to see this , maybe he can advise you better since he uses an Atman too :)

Hey guys, I'm using the Eheim Installation Set for my Eheim 2222. It's better if u got one for ur external filter. U only need the parts which u need 2 connect 2 ur hose. No need 2 prime, just open the cap n fill it up wif water. After that just switch on ur filter! Don't forget 2 cap back or else there won't be any suction.

The easy prime set can be gotten from C328 , Soon Heng 88 , these are the 2 places i know that carries it.

er, I got it at PS. But I'm looking for another one that can fit my 2026 also. Gonna replace the J-pipe wif this installation set. Shouldn't exceed $40.

Eheim Installation Set very ex. Any way to DIY or cheaper brands. I saw the price at pet shop Marine Parade $30++.

Just use a simple hand pump , $1.50 at most HW shops , can also do the job.

Think next time free do a short writeup with pics on this , make it clearer :)

Yes it is ex but it is very easy 2 use! Once u fix to the inlet hose u only need 2 unscrew the cap 2 fill wif water. That's all! No need 2 unhook ur hose. Just save up a bit lah.
