Hi

What are the recommended filters for 1ft and 2ft tanks? Need to keep water conditions clean since I am lazy to change water regularly...
Any suggestions?

1ft = Hang on filters :Ehiem Liberty 100
Internal filters: Eden 316; Ehiem Aquaball 2206
External filters: Ehiem Ecco 2231

2ft = Hang on filters :Ehiem Liberty 150
Internal filters: Ehiem Aquaball 2208/2210
External filters: Ehiem Ecco 2233; Ehiem Classic 2213

hope that helps. Ehiem more ex, but reliable and "ta han long long"

Thanks for your information.
Personally, I dun really fancy internal filters. Have not used a hang-on filter b4.
How does a hang-on filter compare to a external filter?
And how does the Eheim Ecco compare with the Classic in terms of performance and cost?
Sorry that I am asking SO many questions?

Hang on filters are more of a bio-logical cum mechanical filter... and the power of it isn't that strong as it makes use of a pump to suck the water up into the filter and allow it to simply flow out... Ext. cannister filters on the other hand uses pressure pumping to force the water thru the media and utililises almost all the media space... More efficient.

Ecco is slightly cheaper than the Classic if I'm not wrong. But a lot of users do not like the Ecco due to the priming device which is also the handle... Performance wise, once you get past the handle priming part, it's pretty much the same, I guess.... after all the classic has been around for so long liao... Try the Pro II if you got the "dough"...

How much is Eheim classic approximately?
easy to prime? (I realised the importance of ease of usage after buying my Eheim 2028)

Ohh....another option is to use overhead filters. Comments anyone?

Classic 2213 is $80 at C328. No priming function, can add priming tool by Ehiem at $30 I think. also available at C328. :D Ecco more ex than Classic

Another term is HOT , or Hang On Top filters.

Generally such filters cause too much surface agitation on the return of water flow into the tank thru 'fountain' effect so normally not recommended for planted setups.

Just a malawi or tang tank.

And since my tank is in my room, I would prefer not to have the HOT filter, since I guess its going to be noisy due to the fountain effect.

Personally, I think that an internal filter is good for noise control. You can consider using undergravel filter but it may not be ideal as at one stage in time, you need to clean it, hence the need to remove all setup and fish and redo the water again.
