I have always used my 2213 for a 2ft, which sits on the lower tier of the rack. occationally bursting of tiny bubbles occured and when I shake it the canister makes more noise. I cannot "ta han" so=>

Tonight I have replaced the 2213 with a DIY canister filter and the 2213 was transfered to my 1.5ft tank. This tank is placed higher than the 2213 and immediately I noticed no more noise from it.

AS a result, I believe canister should be used only with a tank that has the water level higher than the filter. My 2 ft water level is only 5 inch higher than the 2213. That may have caused it.

If you experience the same situation, do share your experience here.

Yes actually thats one of the ways to ensure proper operation of a canister filter , that is , ensure water level of the tank is above the canister. If not might not have enough water pressure sometimes for the water flow to be smooth going in the canister.
Esp when the canister is an old one or not so powerful as it used to be anymore.

so meaning that water from the tank flow to the canister only from siphon effect not from the motor? Only the water pump back to the tank in the canister is made use of the motor????

Siphoning effect by water pressure plays a part , as does the motor action.
But over time , motor will wear out and lose some of its original effectiveness.
