My 1-year-old Ecco is giving out a low cranking noise. I suspect there's something wrong with the Impeller, though I can't see anything broken.
Am sending it back to C328 where I bought it a year ago.
Need advice: If it's indeed the impeller, do I have to pay for the replacement, while the warranty period (2 years) is still valid?
Thanks!:)
I think the warranty should cover it.
At most just make a bit of noise if they ask you to pay for it.
If not whats the diff btw warranty and no warranty ? :)

Well sometimes warranty only cover parts only. Not too sure on Eheim's warranty. Aiyah you should have told me. Just came back from C328 5 mins ago. Best is call them and ask :)

I called the lady, but she asked me to bring the cover/motor down, cos that's where I heard the noise from.
Anyway (my colleagues nearly strangled me), the lady said there's a part missing. She tried to give me a spare piece, but couldn't find so I bought a pack. It's the small black rubber cap which sits on the top of the impeller's white stick. I don't know the exact name. So I paid $6-something for a pack of 2 rubber caps and 1 white stick. Well, at least I've another 2231 at home, so these parts will come in useful one day. :) Must go home and try to look for the part which may have dropped on the floor when I cleaned the canister over a week ago...
Wah, Eheim's so good that no one seems to have gone back during the warranty period, huh? I was even prepared to buy a new 2235, if I'd to pay something like $50 for a new impeller! :D

the black rubber thingy is a vibration damper and a protection cap for the white central axis ( the white stick ). the impeller is fitted onto the stick with a rubber cap attached to both ends. occasionally u hear the cranking/rattling noise. that happens when the rubber tip is worn out and the stick is actually poking through it. the noise is made when the impeller turns and the stick rotates and grates against the wall of the impeller housing. it can slowly cause marks to appear on the impeller housing wall so checking your impeller regularly is a must. my dad modified an impeller when my old Sicce corner powerfilter's impeller had a worn out rubber tip and broken central axis.

Stormhawk, my colleagues saw those 'parts' I paid for over $6 and suggested that I show them to those guys in our workshop and ask them to come up with similar parts with pieces of scraps! :p

I paid for mine also last time when I accidentally broke the ceramic white color stick of the impeller. The rubber thing comes with it. :D
