Hi bro and sis here juz want to know that is this a true wild red devil, cos i notice that wild one have a very thik lip.

wind, u mean u saw a fish that is like a wild red devil? to me most of the adult ones will very thick lips eventually. where did u see it?

thats the true red devil (labiatus)

But also, the lip shape may also depend on the locality...ie red devils in the wild from different areas look differently...some larger lips some smaller...

if talking abt what we can get in our LFS, chances are they have some Midas blood in them too..These 2 interbreed readily.
and also, those in the hobby here come from a relatively narrow genetic pool (ie they started off with just a few fish and then spread widely as they breed)


many cichlid species are location-specific...
and it is not just new world cichlids (central and south america)
but also africans too ...esp the rift lake species esp from lake malawi
