For that price, why don't you consider a Canon G5 or a G3 with external flash?

Cheers,

Hi mervin, i would suggest to go to the few following sites to have a better view on which brand is more suitable for you. Nikon n canon have their own pro n cons.

www.clubsnap.com
www.dpreview.com

If u really wish to get a canon digicam in the end, i believe benny can help a lot in this in term of budget n specification. :)

There's only so much a camera review as well as friends' recommendations can do.
End of the day, its your money and you must feel comfortable forking out to get the camera of your choice.

My advice is go down to a well known, friendly/customer oriented camera shop, try out the various models. See what suits you best, in terms of handling , features , pricetag , accessories etc etc

A new and better model will always come out, just get the one that suits your needs for the time being ( perhaps it would be wise to look slightly forward to on the usability in a few yrs time )

mervin what's your budget u have in mind....with the budget in mind then you go specs shopping lah and also read the review on the Digis that you have already choose.

Canon is one of the best, myself prefers canon than nikon. (me using 10D) To me the most important part is the lens itself.. with good lens u can have a chio pix. so far the digis that have good lenses are the sony, panasonic, canon and olympus... but of course u'll have to see the range of models lah not all the brand I mentioned uses good lenses.

I have tried the Panasonic Lumix FZ1 c/w leica lenses... very good output... and with good shooting modes... you should try it out lah.. price I think abt $500-600...

have fun hunting....
