which is better ? Alife or Up ?
i'm using both for my two 1ft tanks...

same i think. check the flowrates for both motors. the one with a higher flowrate is slightly better though i must say there's not much of a significant difference in design or cost.

when power is off and then turned back on again the alife filter automatically runs itself but the Up filter have to reprime again by adding water... :rolleyes:

if u adjust the Alife filter's uptake tube and turn the uptake knob to the least limiting point (where the curve thing actually spilts the waterflow into two), it will self prime itself. the limited flow becomes a vacuum so the water stays in the uptake itself. i personally prefer Alife's filters though. been using a small powerhead from Alife for about 2 years now with no difference in flow or performance :D by the way, to increase your filter's lifespan, u can use a small piece of sponge to block up the side entry where the impeller sends the water through. then behind the sponge u add in some Eheim Ehfisubstrat or Biohome. makes it a good biological filter in the process rather than just using the provided carbon pad and sponge pad.

when i open up they only provide me with the sponge pad....
added ceramic rings and extra sponge...
