i used my Liberty 100 when i was running my 16inch tank before. think it can support upto 2ft tanks.
likes: easy maintenance, don't need to put my hands into the water. good for surface water movement.
dislikes: cartridges are expensive, cheapest source i found was from petmart, 2 boxes for $9 regardless if carbon/mechanical or bio cartridges. note: mechanical cartridge is carbonized. as for the bio cartridge, i really wonder how effective that small thing can be.
conclusion: not for planted tank. can only be reliable in smaller tanks (?). i'm keeping it to use as a possible support-filter in my tanks in future.
cheers! :D

Me use Liberty 200, just started recently to filter my congo tank, one look at the filter media provided I know cannot trust. Replaced with wirefloss mat, hard sponge, and biohome. Good flowrate and aesthetics are the plus points. Minus points are the lousy carbon media which people seldom use carbon.
Should have gotten a 2213 with valves, cost about the same like that.

I connect my liberty to the surface skimmer in my 4ft. Can see in Aquascape forum. My tank Pic. They are good and can modify. I never use the provided 3D cartidge.
My method. Fill the lower part of the filter with biohome or emfimech stop just before u reach the impeller part. Then just put some white wool on top to fill up the whole of the filter. It will not jam your filter. Never squeeze the filter wool into the compartment. Wet it before you place it. then you will know how many to put.

benny, don't think, just switch! :P all my 4 tanks are using external canister filters now (except for a 5th - hospital tank), hardly need to worry too much about them. things were different when i was using overhead, hangon and internal filters.
cloud79, by the way, what're you planning to get a hangon filter for? now tank or 'project' coming up? :)

i don't use one but my bro is using one.
the flow rate is ok.
but i find that that media compartment is way to small.
the biggest model 200 will cost (cheapest i can find) $47 at Nature.
2213 cost $80.
i feel that it's good for 1feet tank but better not use the expensive and seems unless cartigdes. best is use other things to fill the compartment.

Seems that everyone agree that the liberty filter cartridges is useless and everyone replace with other things, haha, one of the eheim failures?
