What This Mean?

Hello~ Its me again~!
Haha~!!! :P

My 40cm tank's lighting got problem ah.
The lifgt keeps flickering! and it juz cant light up as usual. the whole lamp is hotter than usual.
Izzit the bulb's problem? Or izzit the inside stuff got problem?
So Which should i change? the light Bulb? or the Whole System?

Any Comments?

It could be the ballast, any idea what type of ballast r u using? :)

Mine also like that, other than that ok, only flickers a few times when starting up, maybe the ballast old liao?

Leafhorn, i think yours is normal and the flicker occur as u r not using e-ballast. :)

Sounds like your starter problem. But then like cloud79 says, depends on what kind of ballast you have.

hmmm... If im not wrong it should be a E-Ballast.
cuz when it was juz bought, it juz light as straight. not even a single flicker. then now become like tat. :cry:

so now i should do wat? change the whole system? or change the ballast?
i previously had the same model. but it blew and melted the plastic casing. so serious. haha! :D
So as wat u all said its the ballast which is problematic rite?

and yah, another question.
Which light is better? FL or PL? for planted tank tat is.
a bit confused after reading some articles.
wat are the Pros and Cons for boths of them and which one u all rate is better?

Thought it desnt flicker, still cant confirm that it is e-ballast. Is there any starter that come wit it? Furthermore, when using e-ballast, it will not generate much heat so i dun think it can actually melt your plastic. The usage of metal is used for casing as it dissipates heat faster than other material say plastic (a gd insulator instead) and therefore, unnecessary heat will not go into the tank water.

I would recommend PL light as they penetrate water well therefore benefit your plant more in term of wattage. Go for PL if u have the budget as Pl is slightly more ex than FL. :)

As for your spolit light, u can actually go down to Nature aquarium to have it checked to further analyse the prob! ;)
