Given the choice which one you all will buy?

2213 no priming
Prime 10 have

2213 with filter media
Prime 10 dont have

Prime 10 bigger
2213 smaller

Prime 10 better capacity and flowrate
2213 rated for smaller tank

Prime 10 Italy stuff, a very good brand
2213 Germany stuff, best canister brand on market

Both are very reliable products.
Both about same price right? About 80 bucks.

I am in a dilema, more inclined to Prime 10. Which one you will buy?

Hydor is also a reputable brand , esp in US.
Many people use it also.

But spare parts wise should it break down might be a problem.
Thats one concern i would have if i were you.
But for some people who once spoil throw one corner get a new one , maybe wont consider that.

Medium do you still have spare ?

For me priming not tat big an issue, as long as you know how to get it going if it has no auto priming.
But sometimes can be fustrating if it doesnt work the way you want it to , immediately.

If it was me making the decision , i would go for the Hydor Prime 10 , reasons being :

I have seen the 2213 in action , quite weak. Perhaps for a small tank would be fine. Assuming the Prime 10 is stronger , i would prefer something with higher capacity and flowrate.
Medium I also always got spare , so thats not a concern.

Somemore got auto priming via water topup valve.
So not bad , all in all , same price better features.

But no Eheim longterm branding as well as lack of availiabilty of spare parts might be a concern to you.
Also the warranty issue. I am not sure how long Hydor's warranty is with the shop you purchase it from.

Then prime 10 I think. Not so concern about warranty as it's a good brand so I guess wont break so easily.

Thanx.

I haf a Prime 10, eheim 2215,2217... comparatively i find the Prime 10 design better as it comes wif built in skimmer, valves, media basket, and oso priming as mentioned...:) eheim on the other hand is a brand u can trust...:) feature wise the Prime 10 is better i feel...and i haven had much problems wif it so far...:)

Hi all,
a skimmer is actually attached to the inlet which can skim the protein layer off the surface of the water...the inlet of the Prime 10 is built in such a way tat if the top of the inlet is jus below water level a lil...surface water will overflow into the inlet...therefore skim the surface...if u haf a chance to go to a store which stocks the Prime canisters mayb u can request to take a look :)
yup...the Prime doesn't have a rainbar but it oso can agitate the water and introduce air bubbles into the water if position correctly...:)
btw i m not working for hydor...:D

Cheers,
TW

But that would mean you always have to position the inlet to the filter slightly above the water level...but any extra drop in the water level , say due to water evaporation, could result in your filter ceasing to function due to lack of water flow through the tubes and causing air lock within the canister rite ?

doesn't matter if the water lvl drops...cos there will b still suction from the bottom part which is something like the eheim one wif the strainer...the design of the inlet is a double tube...the inner tube provides the main suction like the normal eheim while the outer tube serves as a skimmer...so the skimmer function is jus secondary...:)

Hi stw,

Do you think the Prime 10 is strong enough to power a Fluidized Bed filter?

dun think so...the flow rate quite weak...mayb the bigger models ... theres a Atman promotion at yishun B618...saw in one of the posts...though i m not a user i haf heard good comments abt the brand... :) mayb can consider

I think the flow rate for the fbf shouldnt be so high so that the interaction btw the water n the bacteria can be effectively carried out. :)
