yup, colouring up very well, somemore very small. but then, will gibbceps lose that balck line across the body after in growup??? cause i can see that the gibbceps in petfrd profiles have no black line across the body.

Hi guys,
Those black rounded markings that you see, especially on wild cuaght fishes, are encapsulated trematodal (worm) lesion call metacercaria.
They are trematode larvae that attached itself to the skin of the fish, and after a while gets ecapsulated as the tissues around it proliferated to encircle them. It is the body's response to prevent any spread.
Well, these larvae are going through their life cycle, with the fishes as one of the intermediate host. The final host is a bird. Without a final host in sight, the larvae will go into a dormant state within the lesion.
Metacercaria is usually harmless, and there's not much cure for them, as anthelminthic medication does not get to them easily with the tissue encapsulation. The only way, as I did with my altum, is to remove them manually.
For such a small fish, I'd suggest leaving it alone lor.
Cheers,
Kenny
