View Full Version : Atman canister feedback pls
As we know Ehiem is the 1 of the best in the market in term of reliabiity, performance, maintenance, etc. But the pricing is on the high side compare with other market brand eg Atman, etc - Ehiem is abt 2~3 times more of $$$ compare with Atman; given the same flowrate/capacity.
Of course Ehiem come with a 3 year warrenty whereas other may not hv. So the question is which is more value?
I was told/advise that other brand (Atman) is the better 1 about the other brand as it perform just as good , reliable and quiet as Ehiem, but without the warranty. Therefore I need feedback from Atman canister user. Pls help.
Curently I just own a 2028 but planning another cansiter for my 5ft tank or transfer e 2028 to my 5ft but buy another smaller capacity for my 3ft. Which I was thinking of Atman 3337 at <S$100/- or 2026 at abt S$240

i'm using an Atman cannister (don't ask me the model) and after yrs its still working in perfect condition :) it was given to me by a friend.
tks... there is good infor :) Is is quiet in operation ? 1 of the lfs told me that Atman is as quiet as Ehiem in operation. Cos I can hardly notice any sound of my current Ehiem in operation.

Guess if you're on a budget, then can say it is a good buy. Personally, i have one Via Aqua and one ATMAN, no complaints so far.

filter capacity/volume = 7.50 litres
Flow rate/pump output rate = 1200l/hr
Just take note then when comparing filters , flowrate and capacity isnt everything....must also consider factors such as arrangment of filter medium , priming capabilities , water flow within canister etc.. :)

should be able to change the filter medias to better ones right?
only thing 3338 has to do manual priming.

Go for 3338 cos have 3 baskets, 3337 only 2.
I am even using it for my 6ft. I was afraid that the filtration would not be sufficient so I add in the best bio ring I can afford like Sera Siporax & Angel.
I change around 15% water every 3 to 4 weeks.
Before water change. Nitrite Reading 0, Nitrate 10 only.
I have more than 30 fishes in there.:D

Hi,
I'm using 3338 for my 3 feet tank. It works very silent like my 2028. Quality wise, I find it quite inferior as compared to 2028. Cannot blame since its cheap and made from china.

The performance of the filter, I think, depends mostly on what is the media you used in the filter - for mechanical and bilogical filtration.
These filter ranges are for those on tight budget...I'm one of them. can't afford the 2028, i think nearly 3x more. :D

Its a pleco tank so generally, the stronger the better! Still got a additional 1500l/hr wet/dry filter in the tank. :D

Yah!!! I like them mah!! :D
I guess Eheim is no doubt still superior in quality , but just on the pricey side as compared to a lot of emerging imitations ( some of the newer china made models seriously look exactly like an Eheim ... its too funny already :D )
But you have to consider it as a long term investment.
Eheim filters dont break down easily.
Comes with longer warranty period than any other filters on the market....I dont even think Atman has any warranty ( correct me if i am wrong on this )
Eheim also provides better filter medium in the package ( pro 2 series ) so the price also has that factored in , compared to other brands which just give you sponge etc , getting better medium will in the end also add to the cost.
Not to mention the convenience of priming , higher medium capacity , better flowrate , arrangement of medium , longer lasting and warranty , easy avail of spare parts , filter medium , tubing , accessories etc. And the brand name that spells quality assurance :)
So in the end , forking out that extra bit might come in more worth while after all....anyway just my comments .
I also not rich , but if we plan to be in this hobby for life , its an investment too, one time thing :D

I think same with Art, Eheim best. My opinion is that if want to buy something, buy the best one, its an investment and saves money in the long run. Otherwise get the most cheapest one or even DIY, any problems fix yourself, crappy performance have to live with it, and dont grumble, because you didnt spend big money on it so no big deal. I will not spend money on half bucket equipments which cost significant amount of money, but just as lousy and crappy, that is the most boh hwa path to take.

Shirley, if really on tight budget, can go for wet/dry filter... I'm using that as i got no cabinet to store an externa filter.. the wet/dry filter looks quite good on the tank especially if u get a few more layers..
